About the Lecturer: Dr. Yang is Deputy Editor of Cancer Cell, Editorial Development Advisor of Cell Press and Publisher of Molecular Plant. She started her scientific career in Carol Greider and Bruce Stillman’s laboratories as graduate student and received her PhD degree from the molecular genetics program jointly established by Stony Brook University and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Before joining Cell Press in 2008, she held positions at several institutions in the US including the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. As first author she has published in leading journals such as Molecular Cell, Genes & Development, and PNAS. At Cancer Cell she manages manuscript submissions, peer-review and front matter contents in all topic areas covered by Cancer Cell, and leads a number of initiatives in driving the journal’s growth and engagement with the research community. In additional to her editor role, she is also Cell Press’s Editorial Development Advisor since 2012. She is responsible for strategy planning and guiding the prestigious STM publisher’s overall development in greater China and serves as Cell Press’s ambassador to China. She is the chief architect behind Cell Press’s expanding multi-media platform and social media program in Chinese, the “Spotlight on China” series and a new partnership with China Science Daily. In conjunction with this role, she was also appointed in 2014 to be the new publisher of Molecular Plant, Cell Press’s first partnership journal from Asia.
