Lecture: Past and Present of Terahertz Wave

About the Lecturer:

Tian Zhen received his B.S. degree in electronic science and technology, M.S. degree in physical electronics, and Ph.D. degree in optical engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2004, 2007, and 2010, respectively. From 2008 to 2010, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is currently a faculty member in The School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering, and a research member in The Center for Terahertz Waves, Tianjin University. Up to now, he has published over 70 peer-reviewed journal papers with total citation of ~1000 (H index is 21). From 2010 up to now, he has been awarded with 5 grants with himself as the principal investigator (PI). The applicant also won the Jin Guofan Youth Scholar Award in 2016, Awards of 2015 China Optics Outstanding Achievement and best poster of Light Conference in 2015. He is a member of OSA and CIS. And he is reviewer for Advanced Materials, Optics Letters, Applied Physics Letters, Optics Express, JOSA B, Optics Material Express, IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, Optics Communications.

About the Lecture:

Terahertz technologies are attracting a great deal of attention nowadays, with numerous applications in biology, medicine, semiconductor, homeland security, terahertz communications and terahertz Radar. Zhen Tian will review the past and present status of terahertz wave. And then he will introduce the research in Center for Terahertz Waves, Tianjin University.
