 Arts and Culture

Over the past two months, 19 teams composed of the teachers and students from various schools of Tianjin University gave a wonderful show to celebrate the eighth Choir Festival of Tianjin University.

The team from the School of Chemical Engineering performed "Happiness of Snow" to pay tribute to Xu Zhimo, an alumnus of Tianjin University. Female delicate voices, combined with male vigorous voices and dancers, all painted a touching picture for the audience.

The two songs, "Let the River Run" by the team from the School of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Marxism, and the song "Spring Classes" by the team from the School of Education were from Oscar nominated films. But the two choral styles were very different. The former song was full of positive energy; while the latter was lyrical, so the song was full of emotion.

The team from the School of Computer Software performed two songs: "On the Taihang Mountains" and "Nanping Night Bell". Different styles, however the audience could feel the enthusiasm of the software students.

A song from Estonia, "Rahu" was performed by the team from the School of Mechanical Engineering. Estonian and English are very different, which indicated the effort and careful preparation of the students and teachers.

The two songs, "Gloria Canon", and "Friendship Everlasting" were sung by the team from the Qiushi Honors College.

The team from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature gave a distinctive performance of the song "Sing the Song to the Gladness of Our Mom" and “Earth Song”. With African drums and rhythmical beat, it enabled the audience to feel the South American influence.

The song by the team from the School of Electrical Automation and Information Engineering "I Have a Love Affair" is also from Xu Zhimo's classic poem. They added some melody to create a different flavor.

The team from the School of Microelectronics also gave a wonderful performance of "Peace I Give to You", which demonstrated the vitality of this young choir.

The College of Management and Economics team’s song “When the People Sing” innovatively added another part in addition to the original four musical parts, singing the song with more layering of the sounds.

The team from the School of Civil Engineering sang a classic song "In the Brilliant Sunshine". With a perfect combination of four parts of the music and with a very professional level of command, they completed the song in one go.

The final performance was from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, with the familiar song the "Farewell to the South of the City” appropriately expressing the sorrow of parting.
