Launch of the 2017 Tianjin Youth College Science Camp

On July 10, the 2017 Youth College Science Camp at Tianjin was launched at Nankai University, with the theme: “Science Dream, Youth Dream and China Dream”. Many distinguished leaders and honorable guests from Nankai University, Tianjin University, Tianjin Association for Science and Technology, and China Association of Children's Science Instructors attended the ceremony. 

This also marks the week-long Tianjin University camp officially opened. 

During the opening ceremony, Xu Jingjun, Vice President of Nankai University introduced the program of well-prepared activities in the following days, through which the members would closely look at the universities and the science courses. They would savor the University spirit of respect for knowledge, pursuit of truth, bold innovation, and responsibility to integrate their future lives and learning with Chinese modernization.

Dr. Qin Junnan from Tianjin University presented the audiences with 3D holographic projection. Combined with a performance at Peiyang Pavilion during the 120 year anniversary of Tianjin University, Dr. Qin elaborated how 3D holographic projection applied to architecture. He demonstrated problem-solving techniques during the Peiyang Pavilion project, and illustrated its different application principles in the commercial world and in the performing arts. Dr. Qin said he hoped that some students would participate in projection technology in the near future and make efforts in developing more and more amazing functions. 

After the opening ceremony, Ouyang Ziyuan, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, addressed the subject “Voyage to the Moon”, where he recalled the development of human expeditions to the moon, including the Apollo program of the United States and China's Chang'e engineering exploration. During the speech, he urged members to adhere to their personal scientific ideals and to make solid efforts to achieve them, as well as contribute to the “China Dream” of science and technology in name of the youth of China.
