 Campus

August 23, 2017 marked the first day for Tianjin University new comers to arrive at the University for Registration. In the next two days, 12,000 new students will flood in to pursue their undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral studies.

This year TJU will witness the first surge of post-2000 generation students. Among the over 4,900 freshmen, there are 519 born after 2000, the youngest born in 2002.

To better integrate the new-comers into university life, the colleges and schools have organized elaborately prepared activities. At the Weijin Road Campus, the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology displayed notes about scientific research to advocate preciseness and the truth-seeking spirit and the College of Management and Economics recorded new comers’ wishes through video.

To secure the entrance of students from financially strapped families, TJU continues to open the Green Passage providing services including delayed payment of tuition fees, loans for study and provisional grants.

To put up parents who failed to or could not afford to book a hotel room, TJU erected for the sixth consecutive year over 800 tents providing free accommodation with access to electricity, air conditioning, showers and drinking water.

A highlight this year is live streaming through the university’s official micro-blog, in which two students in lovely costumes show viewers around the campus, intriguing many netizens.
