Tianjin University has launched a virtual campus card.  The virtual campus card is an implementation of memorandum of cooperation on innovative engineering between TJU and Tencent, and is an entry point for TJU’s promotion of smart campus development.

Q: What is virtual campus card?

A: The virtual campus card is a virtual form of campus card. We often have problems like forgetting to take the campus card or losing it. While our mobile phone is always with us almost anywhere. And the virtual campus card is in the card pack of WeChat on the mobile phone, so that we can use it anytime and anywhere.

Q: What can I do with the virtual campus card?

A: So far, students can enter the library, book seats and check for the borrowed books with the virtual card.

Q: Any other things the virtual campus cards can do in the future?

A: Auto-book-borrowing services, ordering research room for readers and lounges for teachers, checking academic results and class schedules, among other things will soon come. And other functions like dormitory access control and payment will be realized in the future.

Q: Can I still get seats in the library without using the virtual card? What if I sit on the seat that some other students have already booked?

A: The seat reservation service is only available on the certain seats in the second floor of Zheng Dong Library at Peiyangyuan Campus and the third and fourth floors at Weijin Road Campus. And some other places will be reserved for those who come early.

Q: Will the science library at Weijin Road Campus be open to the public in the future?

A: There are two libraries open to the public for now, the north library and the science library. The overnight study room will be open at the science library. Also, the expired magazines and the information services are available all the time.

Q: I am an alumnus. Can I get a virtual campus card?

A: Not for now, but cards for alumni will be possible in the future.

Q: How can I get a virtual campus card?

A: There are three steps. First scan the QR code in the picture. Then activate your card with your own user number and password. Finally find the virtual campus card in the card pack of WeChat and click on the campus card for TJU.
