2018 China Cybersecurity Week: September 17 to 23

The Cybersecurity Week, aimed at building a civil network security and sharing network, has been held annually since 2014. It organizes a series of events and publications on issues of finance, telecommunications, e-policy and e-commerce and other key fields. It is designed to create a good atmosphere where every netizen is encouraged to take personal responsibility and take part in ensuring the security of the network.

Organized by 10 departments and organizations, including the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Education, the fifth Cybersecurity Week will be held nationwide from Sept. 17 to 23 this year with a new theme of “cybersecurity for the people and cybersecurity through the people”. It is targeted at raising awareness of online threats in the interests of safety. During China Cybersecurity Week, a series of events will be held, including the Opening Ceremony, a Cybersecurity Exhibition, a Cybersecurity Technology Summit and other major activities. These activities have been held in Beijing, Shanghai and Hubei province in the previous years.

On Aug 29, a Cybersecurity Week Press Conference was held in Beijing. Leading officials from the CAC and Chengdu municipal officials gave a brief introduction to the preparation of the activities and the questions of reporters were responded to as well.

According to the spokesman, the 2018 Cybersecurity week enjoys “three of the biggest events ever”: the biggest opening ceremony, the biggest exhibition area and the biggest summit.

The Exhibition will last for 5 days from September 17 in Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center, focusing on cybersecurity talent training, technology innovation and industry development. Some progress will be shown during the exhibition such as the construction of first-class cybersecurity academies, outstanding cybersecurity solutions, cybersecurity innovation products and new technologies in the field of cybersecurity. A theme exhibition area will also be set up to showcase the achievements of cybersecurity and information construction in Chengdu. At the same time, equipped with intelligent voice navigation, a question and answer challenge and a lecture room, the exhibition enables the audience to have a better understanding of cybersecurity and to be involved in cybersecurity construction.

Some well-known tech enterprises and organizations from home and abroad will be present at the exhibition, such as Alibaba, Kaspersky Lab, China Mobile and China UnionPay.
