Tianjin University Hosts Fourth Peiyang Academician Lecture

On September 29, 2024, Tianjin University successfully held the fourth Peiyang Academician Lecture at its Weijin Road Campus. The event was hosted by the Tianjin Research Institute of China’s Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy and organized by the College of Management and Economics. The distinguished academicians Yang Shanlin and Tang Lixin, both members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered keynote speeches, with Vice President of Tianjin University, Ming Dong, and Director of the College of Management and Economics, Du Huibin, in attendance.

In his opening remarks, Ming Dong warmly welcomed the two academicians, offering insights into the origins and significance of the Peiyang Academician Lecture series. He also presented commemorative badges to the speakers in recognition of their contributions.

Yang delivered a comprehensive presentation on “AIGC and Its Application in Industry,” discussing structural design methods, pre-learning data, and the vast potential of AI technologies in various industrial sectors. His talk provided a detailed look into how AI-generated content (AIGC) is reshaping traditional industries and contributing to innovation.

Tang followed with a lecture titled “Data Analytics and Optimization for Smart Industry.” He shared his expertise on data analytics methodologies and system optimization, highlighting their applications in energy management and environmental sustainability. Tang emphasized the critical role of data-driven decision-making in creating efficient and intelligent industrial systems.

The lectures, attended by more than 100 teachers and students, offered a deep dive into the intersection of AI, industrial innovation, and sustainable development, providing a rich academic experience.

Following the presentations, Yang Shanlin and Tang Lixin engaged in lively academic discussions with attendees. They explored the implications of AI for teaching innovation, the latest scientific frontiers, and research methodologies. The dialogue contributed to a robust academic atmosphere, encouraging deeper exploration of cutting-edge technologies.

The Peiyang Academician Lecture series aims to expand the academic horizons of both students and faculty, offering a high-level platform for academic exchange. Tianjin University plans to continue hosting related events, including high-end talent salons and academic innovation forums, to further academic engagement. By integrating online and offline modes, these initiatives are designed to benefit a broader audience across the university community.
