On October 15, the third China Judicial Forum was held at Tianjin University. The Forum was co-sponsored by the Judicial Behavior Research Society of the China Behavior Law Association and Tianjin University Law School. More than 130 experts and scholars from renowned law firms and the Law Schools of Chinese colleges and universities attended the event, including Jiang Bixin, Chair of the Judicial Behavior Research Society of the China, Su Zelin, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Gao Jinghong, President of Tianjin Higher People's Court and Li Jiajun, Party Secretary of Tianjin University.
The lively debates on legal professional behavioral norms demonstrated the participants’ great enthusiasm for making contributions to enhance the credibility of the judiciary and to build a professional legal community.
Party Secretary Li Jiajun stated that working with the theme, “Studying the Code of Conduct of the Chinese Legal Professional Community”, the forum contributed greatly to theoretical research of China's judicial system and the rule of law. Tianjin University Law School is committed to the disciplinary development of law, puts the building of a talented high-level team as the focus and the cultivation of high-quality talented people as its primary mission. Furthermore, it carries out theoretical innovation, policy-making consulting and social service. Acting as the secretariat of the Judicial Behavior Research Society of the China Behavior Law Association, coupled with the rapid growth, the Law School at Tianjin University will provide more support and guarantee the development of the Research Society.
Dean of the Law School Sun Youhai concluded the Forum with three words, “faith”, “trust”, and “confidence”: formulating a joint code of conduct for the professional legal community must be guided by faith in “justice”, and maintaining the norms should be based on the mutual efforts of the different main bodies. What’s more, enhancing the code of conduct for the professional legal community must be ensured by confidence in future prospects. He summarized the main achievements of the forum with three words: “recognition”, “identity”, and “acceptance”: The forum has further recognition of the intention of the legal community, has made further efforts to promote the identity of the code of conduct of the legal community, and has strengthened the acceptance of the standing of the Chinese Judicial Forum. China Judicial Forum at Tianjin University is expected to develop well due to the joint efforts and the support given by the community of legal professionals.
