On October 16, a graduation photograph exhibition was held in Fulixing Reading Experience Cabin at Tianjin University (TJU). Showing a timeline, the exhibition reminded visitors of 80 golden years of Chinese architecture education.

Regarded as an important part of the 80th anniversary celebration of Tianjin University architectural education activities, the exhibition was divided into four parts: “Falling in love with architecture at the first sight of TJU”, “Building dreams at TJU; striving for excellence”, “Flying high at TJU and experiencing the whole world of architecture”, and “Staying in love forever with TJU and architecture”

Thanks to the strong support and positive feedback from the alumni, more than 1300 precious old photos were collected during the preparation period and more than 350 of them were selected for the exhibition. The exhibition included the history of the School, precious graduation photos of the alumni, field research activities outside the School, wonderful activities on campus and various activities organized by the alumni association in different places. The old photos in different periods allowed the visitors to recall joyful memories during their architectural education and development of past days and demonstrated the unremitting efforts and remarkable achievements in the construction industry contributed by teachers and students of the School of Architecture of Tianjin University.

The history of the School of Architecture can be traced to 1937 when the Department of Architecture at Tianjin Institute of Industry and Commerce was established well over 70 years ago. In 1952, the Chinese institutions of higher education were reorganized. The Department of Architectural Engineering of the Private University of Jingu (formerly the Tianjin Institute of Industry and Commerce), the Department of Architectural Engineering of Northern Jiaotong University (formerly the Tangshan Institute of Technology) and the Department of Civil Engineering at Tianjin University were merged to form the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Tianjin University. In 1958, the Department of Architecture of Tianjin University was established. In June, 1997, Tianjin University undertook reform of the school system and the School of Architecture was then established.
