Tianjin University Leaders met with International Advisory Board of Management and Economics

On October 19, 2017, Hu Wenping, the Vice President of Tianjin University, met with the members of the International Advisory Board of Management and Economics at Tianjin University conference building on the Weijin Road Campus. Zhang Wei, the director of the College of Management and Economics, Li Lianzhong, the secretary of the party committee, and Zhang Zhen the vice section chief of the Office of International Cooperation attended the talks.

During the talks, President Hu welcomed the members to g Tianjin University. Then, he briefly acquainted the members with recent developments at the university and the development strategy for Tianjin University in the new national development situation. Additionally, he expressed the university's support for adopting various measures to further expand cooperation and exchanges in the future.

The members were grateful to President Hu for his welcome speech. Meanwhile, the members highly praised the development of Tianjin University’s management and economic disciplines, and offered targeted suggestions and proposals. The first meeting of the second International Advisory Committee of the Department of Management and Economics of Tianjin University was held subsequently.

The International Advisory Committee of the Department of Management and Economics of Tianjin University was founded in September 2014, which provides strategy reviews and outreach towards resources for the long term of development of Management and Economics and serves as a bridge for the communication between CoME and academia and industry.

The second International Advisory Committee is composed of world class business and political leaders, scholars in management and economics, and social elites, which mainly includes the former director of state owned assets supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Honorary director, of the Department of Economics and Management Rongrong Li; the COO of the Jake Company Jim O'Neill; Robert Dixon a former dean of the Durham University School of business, professor at Durham University, and AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) certification official; professional diplomat, former head of economic and social affairs of the United Nations Deputy Secretary General China, representatives from the United Nations Office at Geneva Switzerland, Chinese foreign ministry Arms Control Secretary Changsha Zu Kang; Mr. Zhang Yaohua, vice president of the Economics and Management Department of long-term strategic partner DELL; President of the association of listed companies China Mobile Communications Corporation, former chairman Mr. Wang Jianzhou, leaders from the Tianjin University Party committee, vice president Wang Shuxin, and 16 academicians from Britain, South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
