Tianjin University (TJU) was invited to share experience at the 9th China National Symposium on Engineering Graduate Education held at Jiangsu University on November 3-4, 2017.

Professor Zhao Meirong, Executive Vice Dean of TJU’s Graduate School, on behalf of Tianjin University, delivered a keynote speech, “Establishing a Guaranteed Quality System of Graduate Education and Developing a Double World-Class University”, which was thought of highly by the attendees. Based on China’s “Double-World Class” Initiative and TJU’s programs of developing a world-class university, she shared with the delegates TJU’s innovative measures and advanced practices in the guaranteed quality system of graduate education. She emphasized that the cultivation of high-quality talent is the core and the establishment and improvement of a quality system of graduate education guarantees the development of a world-class university.

Zhang Liqian, a representative from TJU’s Graduate School, reported on “Discussions on the Reform of PhD Candidates Admission Plans and Management: From the Perspective of the Autonomous Review of Awarding Degrees”.

“Optimizing PhD Candidates’ Training Programs and Building Top-class Innovative Talent”, written by Liu Ning from TJU, was awarded one of the top ten papers among all the excellent papers submitted to the symposium.

More than 500 experts and scholars from over 160 colleges and universities attended the symposium. The symposium is held every two years and aims to improve the quality of postgraduate training, promote the cultivation of innovative talent and facilitate the exchange of experience in graduate education among different institutions of higher education.
