Led by Party Secretary Li Jiajun, a Tianjin University delegation paid a visit to universities in Poland, Spain and Portugal, including the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, the Technical University of Madrid, the University of Granada, the Technical University of Lisbon and the University of Lisbon from November 8 to 15. The delegation exchanged in-depth views and received positive responses to further cooperation.
The Tianjin University delegation was warmly welcome by the Vice President Stanislaw Kistryn of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, who discribed the history, international cooperation and the development of advanced subjects. Both sides reached an agreement on developing further international cooperation in scientific studies and student exchange programs.
During the visit to the Technical University of Madrid, the President Guillermo Cisneros, and the Vice President of international affairs, Jose Miguel Atienza, met with the delegation. Vice President Atienza noted that they attached great importance to cooperation with China's top universities, and were willing to keep in close contact with Tianjin University in engineering and technical fields. Both sides agreed to establish corporation programs in double degree and research seminars. Delegation members also visited the Civil Engineering College as well the School of Architecture at the Technical University of Madrid.
At the University of Granada, the delegation expressed their willingness in furthering bilateral development in university students academic communication and international exchange projects, as well as in scientific research cooperation. During the talks, President Pilar Aranda and Party Secretary Li signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” and a “Student Exchange Agreement” to promote exchange students and scholars based on Erasmus+ projects. Later, Li visited exchange students from Tianjin University, encouraging them in their studies, as well as confirming the friendship between the two universities.
Jointly with the Li Jiajun and the delegation, Luis Miguel Silveira, the Vice President of the Technical University of Lisbon reviewed the contribution of their cooperation with Tianjin University over the past few years, especially the education platform that is supported by the SINO-EU Engineering Education Platform (SEEEP). The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation in duel degree programs and scientific studies. Meanwhile, both sides made commitments to the exchange of ideas in promoting the SINO-EU Engineering Education Platform.
