TJU International Research Center for Chinese Cultural Heritage Conservation Listed as the Core Think-Tank of China

The Fourth National Summit on the Evaluation of Humanities and Social Sciences, organized by Chinese Evaluation Center for Humanities and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was held recently. The event focused on “the present evaluation and experience of new think-tanks with Chinese characteristics”.

During the summit, the “2017 AMI Research Report on the Comprehensive Evaluation of a China Think-Tank” was released. As a result, the International Research Center for Chinese Cultural Heritage Conservation was included in the 2017 “Core Think-tank List after the comprehensive evaluation of China’s think-tanks”.

Taking the “China humanities and social science evaluation AMI index system" as an outline and based on “national comprehensive evaluation index system of high-end think-tanks” and the “comprehensive evaluation of China’s think-tank AMI index system” a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of appeal, administrative capability and influence is made. It has classified domestic think-tanks under four categories, namely,comprehensive, professional, enterprise and social think-tanks, to make evaluations and studies of each of the four categories. It finally selected 166 think-tanks from the 531 eligible. Among them, there were a total of 243 colleges and universities think-tanks, of which 79 were awarded as China's core think-tanks.

Founded in 2008 and making "interdisciplinary research" and "internationalization" its mission, the International Research Center for Chinese Cultural Heritage Conservation, Tianjin University has been committed to building a high-level platform that meets the demands of the country for scientific research, teaching and practice concerning cultural heritage conservation. The research center was affirmed by the Tianjin Education Commission as “a key research base for humanities and social sciences for general institutes of higher education in Tianjin” in 2010. It is one of the first university think-tanks in Tianjin to be a source think-tank of the Chinese think-tank index (CTTI).

The research center takes cultural heritage conservation as its main direction, including the comprehensive study of Chinese modern industrial heritage conservation, integrated research on modern architectural heritage and historical blocks of Tianjin city and Asian historical cultural heritage research.
