TJU Establishes a Center for Joint Quantum Studies

On November 24, the unveiling ceremony of the Tianjin University (TJU) Center for Joint Quantum Studies was held at the Peiyang Park Campus. Li Jiajun, Party Secretary of TJU, Xie Xincheng, Dean of the School of Physics, Peking University, leaders from TJU’s School of Science, and more than 100 teachers and students from the Department of Physics attended the ceremony.   

Liu Changlong, Party Secretary of the School of Science, presided over the ceremony. Professor Lv Hong, Director of Center for Joint Quantum Studies, described the background, development and the future plans for the Center.

Li Jiajun stressed that the development of science was a very urgent need for TJU to support a strong engineering stream. The establishment of the Center for Joint Quantum Studies marks a great advance in physics as well as a transformation of the layout of the science disciplines at TJU, which was of great significance for its development as a world-class university. He also pointed out that Center for Joint Quantum Studies would be based on the research of quantum physics and was committed to recruiting and cultivating talented people.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Xie delivered an academic lecture on Spin Superconductors, and took part in a discussion with young teachers from the Department of Physics.
