Liang Zhu, an outstanding alumnus of Tianjin University and vice president of Tencent Inc., visited the university on December 11th. Specializing in face and image recognition and machine learning, Mr. Liang got both his master’s and doctor’s degrees at Tianjin University. He was identified as a national expert in the city of Shenzhen and once won the national patent award.

After a small ceremony at which Liang was issued an appointment letter as an adjunct professor by Tianjin University vice president Wang Shuxin, Liang Zhu delivered a speech to students on future intelligence development. He shared with the audience the thinking and strategies of Tencent in the era of artificial intelligence, explained the development of the cloud, big data, AI and their relationship by introducing the technical layout and exploration of the Youtu Lab in artificial intelligence and interpreted the trends and direction of the development of an intelligent future. In addition, he gave students advice on how to catch up with the current development frontier, how to learn in the era of AI, and how to gain an insight into the development of the industry and thus to take the lead in the rapidly developing era.

It is reported that in order to facilitate cooperation on a new engineering course teaching between TJU and Tencent, the company will carry out more cloud + campus activities by inviting technical experts, CEOs and CTOs from Tencent to TJU to give cloud computing experiment lessons and entrepreneurial lessons. Through these activities, technological experts and entrepreneurs will conduct in-depth dialogues and exchanges with students. In addition, the Tencent cloud + campus plan will also provide students with cloud computing courses, online experimental platforms, and cloud resources support to meet students’ needs.
