Recently, Tianjin University Award Ceremony for Outstanding Foreign Undergraduates in 2016-2017 Academic Year was held at the School of International Education of Tianjin University.

This year, seventy-seven international students from 24 countries won the title of “Outstanding Foreign Undergraduate”. Eight students won the first prize and were awarded first-class scholarships. Eighteen students won second prizes of second-class scholarships. The third prize with third-class scholarships was awarded to 51 students.

Prize and scholarship winning student representatives delivered speeches on behalf of all the recipients. Speakers included KIM MI HYUN from South Korea, CHOE, U SONG from North Korea, LASTRA DIEGO ALEJANRO from Argentina, KHALIFEH, MOHAMMAD from Lebanon, AL-AKABANI, TAREK from The Syrian Arab Republic, MOKHAMMD FARIDL ROBITOH from Indonesia, and AL-SHWAFY KHALED WAHEEB ABDULLAH from Yemen. They shared their experiences of how they fell in love with Tianjin University as well as Tianjin city. They expressed the desire to continue to work hard and try to win the title of “Outstanding Foreign Undergraduate” next year. Also, they shared their learning methods and experience, hoping other students could make greater efforts and win the honor and award.

The Dean of the School of International Education, Chen Zhihua acknowledged the students’ hard work and hoped the winners would inspire all the students in their study. He stated that Tianjin University would strive to provide more and a greater variety of scholarships for international students to guarantee their life and study at Tianjin University. He hoped the winners would continue their further study at Tianjin University in the future and wished them a bright future.
