During his visit to Manado city, capital of Sulawesi Utara (North Celebes) province, Indonesia, at the invitation of the local government, the Ambassador Xiao Qian, indicated that the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia would participate in the cooperation between the Sulawesi Utara province and TJU’s APEC Sustainable Energy Center (APSEC).

Ms. Henriette Jacoba Roeroe, consultant to the Governor of Sulawesi Utara and an Advanced Consultant Expert of APSEC, Ms. Jenny Karouw, Head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Mr. Maximilian Jonas Lomban, Mayor of Bitung City greeted Ambassador Xiao’s group. Both sides discussed sustainable development cooperation in Sulawesi Utara.

Ms. Henriette Jacoba Roeroe, detailed the early achievements of the cooperation between Sulawesi Utara and TJU’s APSEC to Ambassador Xiao, including APSEC signing strategic agreements over low carbon construction, the sustainable development of Sulawesi Utara and the low carbon action demonstration project
Ambassador Xiao thought highly of the early achievements that both sides had reached, and said the Embassy would advance the cooperation. Ambassador Xiao announced that in order to strengthen the connection between Sulawesi Utara and APSEC and launch the Lembeh Island project, the Chinese government would sponsor two elite students from Sulawesi Utara to study at TJU and invite government officials from Sulawesi Utara to visit China. Moreover, the Embassy would invite investors, companies and academic associations to back-up the low carbon program, making it the best of its kind.
