The 2nd APEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities was held in Singapore on April 25, 2017.
The APEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities was hosted by the APEC Sustainable Energy Center (APSEC). APSEC was established at the 11th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting on September 2, 2014. APSEC makes active contributions to sustainable Asia-Pacific development with sustainable and practical projects, promotes technological applications and strives to be complementary and interactive among the APEC organizations. Tianjin University is responsible for the daily operations and management of the APSEC.
The APEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities mainly discusses effective models and comprehensive solutions for the sustainable development of Asia-Pacific cities through cooperation with officials of member economies, international organizations and financial institutions from APEC, governors of Asia-Pacific cities and representatives of internationally renowned industry-university-research institutions.
During the workshop, Zhu Li, the director of APSEC, and Ellen Kumaat, the President of Sam Ratulangi University signed an agreement on the cooperation with Indonesia Bitung city.
Representatives from the APEC Secretariat, the APEC Energy Working Group (EWG) Secretariat, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Energy Council (WEC), the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), the Asia-pacific Energy Research Center (APERC), the Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies (EGNRET), the Expert Group on Energy Efficiency & Conservation (EGEE&C), the Expert Group on Clean Fossil Energy (EGCFE), the Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis (EGEDA), the National Energy Administration of China, Tianjin University, the National University of Singapore, the University of Pennsylvania, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Machinery Sub-Council, the Singapore Energy Market Authority, Shenzhen Guangdong Province, Tianjin Yujiapu Financial District, Australia Capital Territory, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, Singapore and other cities attended or spoke at the workshop.
