From July 2 to July 16, 2017, the Oversea Touring Exhibition of Chinese New Year Wood-block Pictures, organized by the Feng Jicai Research Institute of Literature and Art at Tianjin University, is being launched in Italy. This touring exhibition opened in three places successively: the Palazzo Risolo Specchia on July 2, the Confucius Institute at Venice University on July 4, and the Confucius Institute at the University of Florence on July 9.

Since the foundation of the Chinese New Year Wood-block Picture Study Center of the Feng Jicai Research Institute in 2006, the Feng Jicai Research Institute has undertaken a major program for the National Social Science Foundation involving database construction and oral history research of Chinese New Year Wood-block Pictures. Recently, the center was engaged in compiling Chinese New Year Wood-block pictures that were selected for inclusion among the world intangible cultural heritage list. All these activities have generated a huge response among both academic circles and the general public.

This touring exhibition in Italy is the first exhibition held overseas by the Feng Jicai Research Institute. The event has had strong support from the Embassy of China in Italy, the government of La Specchia, Italy, the Confucius Institute at Venice University, the Confucius Institute at the University of Florence, and the Associazione Culturale Il Filo di Seta.
