Tianjin University People Involved in the Belt and Road Initiative: Li Hongmei

 Campus

Li Hongmei was a 2004 undergraduate at Tianjin University. Li is a Deputy General Manager of the Project Management Department of the Overseas Highway Division of the CCCC First Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. She is in charge of the overseas project contract management. Recently she participated in one of the Belt and Road projects: the railway construction on the eastern coast of Malaysia.

As a staff member who has been involved in the Belt and Road project, Li also has her own understanding of the significance of the Belt and Road initiative: the Belt and Road initiative has been highly praised by the countries and regions along the route. Those governments are willing to join with China to hold high the banner of peaceful development, and take the initiative to develop economic cooperation with the countries along the route. They would like to work together with China to create a shared destiny that features political mutual trust, economic integration and cultural inclusiveness.

The Belt and Road initiative requires a large number of personnel for international engineering management, and Li pointed out that students also need to strengthen their basic professional understanding of international politics and economics. At the same time, such personnel should pay attention to learning risk management of contracts since there exists a wide range of international engineering cooperation models.

Li's message to the students: "Seeking truth from facts" is the first lesson for all the students in Tianjin University and I believe the motto should be deeply embedded in their minds. I bless all the college students to forge ahead, not to forget their initial resolution and to keep moving forward!
