TJU Athletes’ Achievements in National College Students Track and Field Championships

The 17th National College Students Track and Field Championships were held in Erdos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from July 15 to 20, with about 3,100 athletes from nearly 230 colleges and universities participating in the tournament. In the six-day games, TJU athletes showed their mettle and achieved a lot. 

Xi Zeng won the men's A 800m silver medal and 1,500m bronze medal; Zhao Sa came seventh in the men's A400m hurdles competition; Zhou Yuanpeng came seventh in men's A200m competition; and the relay team of Yao Shufan, Xi Zeng, Zhao Sa, Zhou Yuanpeng from College of Management and Economics made it to the final of men’s 4×100 relay and came eighth and at the same time broke the TJU record. 

Xi Zeng's result was satisfying with one silver medal and one bronze medal, which means he has stood on the podium at the highest level national of university track and field competition for consecutive three years. He has won two gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals in total and was also ranked fifth. 

The TJU track and field team is led by Liu Jiang, Lu Wenfeng and Meng Qingfu. The event acts as intensive training before the 13th National Student Sports Games. The event was undertaken by the Erdos Municipal Government and executed by the Track and Field Federation of University Sports of China. Athletes said they would prepare well for the National Student Sports Games in September.
