The 10th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week Gala was held at Guizhou Normal University in Guiyang, Guizhou province with the theme, “Ten Years of Educational Cooperation Opens a New Chapter under the Belt and Road Initiative". At the Gala Chinese and ASEAN student's showcased their artistic talent presenting amazing performances demonstrating the ethnic features of their countries and their cooperation. The show “China-ASEAN: Our Promising Future”, a mixture of poems, flutes and calligraphy was performed by Lou Xiangyi, Jian Hongxin and Fan Yuxue, three international students from Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam respectively from the School of International Education of Tianjin University, along with Vietnamese students from the Guangxi Art Institute and Thai students from the Tianjin Normal University.
Invited by the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week Committee and China Scholarship Council, Lou Xiangyi showcased her original poem “China-ASEAN: Our Promising Future" at the Gala. Her poem lauded the Belt and Road Initiative as the bridge connecting ASEAN and China, offered the ASEAN youths’ best wishes and support for the Belt and Road Initiative and won huge applause from the audience.
Lou’s imaginative poem inspired by the world map in her dormitory conceives a splendid prospect from the sky over the sea and the continent. An excerpt from the poem follows:
If you look down from the sky
Reaching Southeastern Asia floating on sea wind
The golden ground will surprise you
By its ancient agricultural civilization
And its contented people
So please listen to the voice
Of each country and each sea
…
Encounter the rainfall there
And you can feel your cheek moistened
By the vapor from the Indian, Pacific Oceans and the South China Sea
The poem continues: “neighboring countries can achieve win-win development due to our common pursuit of a promising future”. China and ASEAN will continue their collaboration in the Belt and Road Initiative, reach a consensus in their development and strive for the prosperity altogether.
