Recently, a group of 11 delegates from Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University visited Tianjin University (TJU) hospital. The delegation was led by Xu Weiguo, Vice President of Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University in charge of business operations and chairman of the Hospital’s Union. The delegation consisted of people in charge of each clinic section including directors in the nursing department, pharmacy department, clinical laboratory, radiology department, prophylactics department, infection control department, out-patient department and the general affairs section. The delegation learned the future plans for the Tianjin University hospital and about win-win cooperation in order to insure the health of the teaching faculty and students and make a contribution to the construction of double world-class university. The two sides reached a consensus on various areas, including opening a TJU medical treatment 'Green Channel' program, building a teaching faculty healthcare center, conducting regular physical examination of TJU’s teaching faculty and students, training medical personnel, building a one-to-one assistance system, standardizing the hospital management model and procedures, sharing university culture and constructing a communication platform for young teaching staff.

At the meeting, the Assistant to the President of Tianjin University Zhang Lixin welcomed the prospect of strategic cooperation between TJU and Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University. He considered the Hospital to be a strong medical institution due to its abundance in medical resources, top-class technical back-up and advanced hospital management experience. He expected the two sides would strengthen their cooperation and collaborate seamlessly. He conveyed a wish on behalf of the school hospital for comprehensive assistance and further technical support. He also hoped to convert TJU hospital into a top-rate one with the help of skillful medical professionals and high-level medical technologies in Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University.

He offered three suggestions on the future cooperation with Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University. First, he suggested further cooperation between the two hospitals to improve the school hospital’s service quality based on the needs of the people it serves. Second, he considered it a good idea to construct a long-term stratagem in accordance with the state medical change policy and the current condition of the university hospital. Third, he thought it necessary to build comprehensive cooperation between TJU Hospital and Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University in order to strengthen personnel training and improve the management model.

Xu Weiguo said the strategic cooperation and the official opening of Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University brought the two parts closer. Xu claimed that their aims were to define the next stage of development and to discuss the assistance plan highlighting the advantages offered by Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University. He offered three suggestions on how to strengthen cooperation with TJU hospital. The first point was to build a system of regular communication between the administrative sections of both sides initiated by this symposium in order to strengthen their friendship and cooperation. The second was strengthening the cooperation in every aspect and by various methods, which would allow both sides to show their strengths, to realize a win-win development and make a contribution to both TJU and Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University. The third was that Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University would utilize its strength to transfer talent and medical technologies to TJU hospital to better the service for the teaching faculty and students.

Participants in the symposium discussed several issues including zero price difference, hospital tranfers, clinical department construction and coordinated cooperation and development between the two hospitals. Based on the current condition of TJU hospital and the needs of teaching faculty and students, the participants communicated with their fellows and focused on the clinical standard, talent training, clinical infection control, pharmacy services and long-term care integrated with health care.

Lastly, Zhao Cuiyun, Party Branch Secretary of the organization combined with the elementary school and kindergarten affiliated with TJU and the TJU Hospital hoped that the assistance and cooperation strategy would start initially and develop successfully so that the teaching faculty and students would benefit from it most and become more willing to be a part of TJU’s 'double first-rate' university construction. She also said that they would focus on the coordination and communication work and strive to provide better service for TJU Hospital.

The TJU Hospital and participants showed their determination to enhance the quality of their performance, train more talented and elite personnel, improve medical treatment and service quality with the help of Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University so that they could provide high-quality, efficient and convenient medical services and make a contribution to TJU’s 'double first-rate' university construction.
