The 17th National College Student Athletics Championships were held in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia in the summer, with 3,100 athletes representing nearly 230 universities competing to claim the championship. All universities have paid close attention to the national games due to their role as a tryout for the upcoming National College Student Championships being held in September. Young athletes from TJU showcased their ability with a string of good performances over the six-day span.

TJU athlete Xi Zeng won a silver medal in the men’s 800m and a bronze medal in the men’s 1500m. While another two TJU athletes Zhao Sa and Zhou Yuanpeng each finished seventh in the men’s 400m hurdles and the men’s 200m respectively. Four athletes, Yao Shufan, Xi Zeng, Zhao Sa and Zhou Yuanpeng of the Economics and Management School for the first time entered the men’s 4*400 relay final and took eighth place, having beaten TJU’s record in the men’s 4*400 preliminary.
Xi Zeng’s silver and bronze medals successfully made him a medalist in three consecutive years. He has so far claimed two gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze ones and once finished fifth across the national games he has participated in.

The TJU sports team was led by three coaches: Liu Jiang, Lu Wenfeng and Meng Qingfu. The 17th National College Student Championships in Athletics were held by the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC), assisted by the people’s government of Ordos and operated by Track & Field FUSC, serving as a tryout for the 13th National College Student Championships in Hangzhou. TJU Athletes demonstrated their determination to achieve better results in the National College Student Championships.
