Zhong Denghua, President of Tianjin University, visited the famous alumnus Larry Yung in Hong Kong on September 11. On behalf of Tianjin University, President Zhong mentioned that with the support of distinguished alumni like Mr. Larry Yung, Tianjin University has made great progresses in various ways. The faculty and students would work together to build the University into a world-class university. President Zhong invited Mr. Larry Yung to attend the 11th World Alumni Congress in Changsha, Hunan Province.
The “Science and Technology Innovation Award for Faculty”, which was donated by Mr. Larry Yung and first awarded in June, 2017, is mainly used for supporting the construction of "great science and technology innovation teams" as well as helping Tianjin University to realize the goal of becoming a world-class university.
As the winner of the first "Science and Technology Innovation Award for the Faculty”, Wang Chengshan, Dean of the School of Electrical Automation and Information Engineering at Tianjin University, reported on the development course of his research team and the progress of related research projects, described the development and achievements of the school in recent years, and life of the professors who had taught Mr. Larry Yung before.
Mr. Larry Yung listened carefully to the progress reports of Tianjin University and gave full affirmation to its achievements. He said he would continue to pay attention to the development of Tianjin University and hoped that it would be soon be built into a world-class university.
