Recently, the chamber music group Vivace provided us with an excellent performance in Qiushi Hall on Peiyang campus, TJU. The concert attracted a wide range of students and faculty, especially freshmen who were eager to enjoy their first musical experience at TJU. Vivace played a selection of theme music all belonging to Academy Award-winning or nominated films.
Students from different colleges listening to the Tianjin chamber music group VIVACE’s concert performed in the Qiushi Hall on Peiyang campus, TJU.
The performance began with the theme song of a popular Disney movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. This magnificent piece of music transported the audience to the open sea where Captain Jack Sparrow gets caught up in his many adventures. It was followed by I see you, the theme song from Avatar, which is intended to show the romantic love between the protagonists.
Musicians from Tianjin chamber music group VIVACE working as an ensemble.
A collection of songs from the classic musical The Sound of Music struck the students’ childhood memories. The gentle lull of Edelweiss and the lively step of Do-re-mi showed us the great courage and patriotism of the Von Trapp family during the Second World War.
Besides working as an instrumental ensemble, the group also presented a violin solo, Theme from Schindler's List, composed by John Williams. The melancholy tune pulled on the audience’s heartstrings.
There were other pieces of music from the Oscar-nominated movies, such as Home Alone, Frozen, Alice in Wonderland, The Avengers and more.
The concertmaster Liu Mengnan played the violin for songs from the 2013 musical fantasy film, Frozen.
Music is a second language to human beings. In pieces of music, musicians express timeless themes of love and death. That’s the reason music composed years or decades ago remains so charming and enchanting today.
