2017 International Joint Design Workshop Hosted by Tianjin University

Recently, the 2017 International Joint Design Workshop hosted by the Industrial Design Major in College of Mechanical Engineering, jointly organized by TJU’s Xuanhuai College and sponsored by Tianjin Kimmitt Technology Co. was opened on Weijin Road Campus. With the theme of “Electric Bicycles in the Netherlands”, over 60 members, including Yang Fuling, Shi Liangxing, Cao Shuqian, Xiang Zhongxia from TJU, Xie Yanmin from Kimmitt Co., Teacher Deborah Nas, Teacher Catelijiue van Middelkoop and graduate students from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands as well as teachers and students from TJU took part in the opening ceremony.

During the ceremony, Director of International Exchanges and Cooperation Yang Fuling and associate dean of the Mechanical College Cao Shuqian represented the university and college respectively and delivered speeches, greeting Delft University with a warm welcome and wishing the event to be a complete success.

TJU associate Professor of Industrial Design Huang Yanqun, Delft student Lynn Potters, and Teacher Deborah Nas came forward in turn to introduce their university and major from the learning environment, curriculum, teaching staff and students.

Next, Dutch and Chinese students freely split into six groups, made each other’s’ acquaintance and took photos together.

Kimmitt Technology Co. general Manager Xie Yanmin delivered a speech, encouraging students to bravely seek their dreams and achieve success during this event.

The activity lasted for three days, including group design, discussion, and communication, an enterprise tour, and campus visits. The 28 Delft graduate students and TJU students discussed and shared their thoughts on electric bicycle functions, methods of charging, ways of using, etc. Aimed at building a multicultural communication forum, TJU teachers and students joined their efforts to seek common ground while accepting differences.
